While it’s still cold outside, now is the time to take up some creative indoor projects. Whether you are new to crafting, or are considered a Martha Stewart among your family and friends, you are invited to participate in “Beating the Winter Blues” craft programs at Omaha Public Library. Join us Tuesdays in February at Millard Branch, 13214 Westwood Ln., 6:30 p.m. Each week will focus on a different craft. These free programs are a great way to meet people, learn new skills or share some of your own craft tips and tricks with others. Feb 7 | Knit a Valentine Learn the basics of knitting and create a special item for your valentine with the help of Library knitting mavens Micki Dietrich and Anna Wilcoxon. Feb 14 | Fun with Photos: Scrapbooking Meet scrapbooking enthusiasts Shari and Jacquie Shuster as they explore the tools and techniques of scrapbooking and share ideas for organizing photos and getting started. Feb 21 | Cozy Up to Quilting Join the Omaha Quilters’ Guild Helping Hands Committee for an introduction to the world of quilting. Learn about the history of quilting and types of materials used, then create a small quilting sample. Feb 28 | Creating with Lace Explore lacemaking with Marilee Warner from Living Lace of Omaha. She will give you an opportunity to try bobbin lace and tatting, as well as Japanese braiding with a unique hands-on project. Register for these workshops online at omahalibrary.org or by calling 402.444.4848. Visit omahalibrary.org for information about additional programs offered at Omaha Public Library’s 12 metro locations. |
