Saddlebrook Branch staff to be splashed with color
WHAT: Color Splash & Hydrant Party Celebration WHO: Open to the public?Media, children, teens, community groups, educators and others WHEN: Saturday, July 28, 1:45-2:30 p.m. WHERE: Saddlebrook Branch, 14850 Laurel Ave. (northwest side of the building) WHY: Saddlebrook Branch challenged its patrons to read 45,000 books during the Summer Reading Program (SRP). Patrons accomplished this goal and will be rewarded by splashing some of their favorite librarians and library staff with multi-colored paint. Everyone is invited to attend a free outdoor concert featuring family-friendly band The String Beans. Join us at Saddlebrook Branch library and community center, 14850 Laurel Ave., on Friday, July 27, 7-9 p.m. Those attending are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, friends and family. The concert will be followed by playing outdoor games and making s'mores.

Omaha Public Library and Omaha Parks and Recreation will host a free wine and cheese tasting event for adults ages 21 and up on Thursday, July 19, 6:30-8 p.m., Florence Branch, 2920 Bondesson St. R.S.V.P. by calling 402.444.5299. Those in attendance will have their names entered for prize drawings. The event is sponsored by Baker's, City of Omaha Parks & Recreation, Omaha Public Library Friends & Foundation and The Winery.

Almost everyone has heard that “life doesn’t come with an instruction manual,” but as we age, there are so many things we wish we would have known when we were younger. Omaha Public Library in partnership with the student success and transition company LifeBound will offer a series of summer enrichment workshops for middle school students at W. Dale Clark Main Library, 215 S. 15th St., to help them prepare for a successful future.
